This project involved planning relating to the adaptation of existing buildings to host a range of sports and the masterplanning of the public ‘common’ domain. The common domain encompassed all the public areas at Sydney Olympic Park and incorporated nine competition venues. Up to 550,000 people visited in a single day, fully occupying the Olympic Boulevard, with transport moving 100,000 people every hour. Temporary arrangements were designed for crowd movement, entertainment, food and beverage, transport terminals, operations management and security infrastructure. The comfort and ease of movement of crowds was one of the remarkable features of Sydney Olympic Park.
